Alocasia - 'Silver Dragon'

Regular price $35.00
/

The Silver Dragon Alocasia is a unique houseplant that is known for its striking foliage with large, silvery green leaves and dark veins. This tropical perennial plant is a cultivar of Alocasia longiloba, which is native to Southeast Asia, particularly Borneo and Sumatra, and belongs to the Araceae family, which includes other popular houseplants like the Peace Lily and the ZZ Plant.

- Soil type: Use a well-draining soil mix that's rich in organic matter. Alocasias prefer soil that's slightly moist, but not waterlogged.
- Soil pH: 5.5 and 6.5.
- Sun: Silver Dragon Alocasias prefer bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight as it can scorch the leaves.
- Water: Water the plant when the top inch of soil feels dry. Avoid letting the soil dry out completely, as this can cause the leaves to yellow and drop. However, be careful not to overwater, as this can lead to root rot.
- Temperature: Silver Dragon Alocasias prefer temperatures between 75-90°F (24-32°C). They can be sensitive to cold drafts, so keep them away from windows or doors that are frequently opened.
- Humidity: 60-70%. You can increase humidity by misting the leaves or placing a humidifier nearby.
- Fertilizer and feeding: Feed your Silver Dragon Alocasia every 2-3 weeks
- Pruning: Remove yellow or damaged leaves as soon as possible to prevent the spread of disease. You can also prune the plant to control its size and shape.
- Pet friendly-poisonous: Unfortunately, Alocasias are toxic to pets, including dogs and cats. Keep them out of reach of pets and children
