/
Nepenthes ventricosa, commonly called a tropical pitcher plant, produces hanging pitchers that attract and digest insects. It is a good entry-level Nepenthes when kept bright, warm, and evenly moist.
Care: Grow in bright, indirect light. Keep the media lightly and evenly moist, but do not leave the pot sitting in stagnant water. Use low-mineral water when possible, such as rain, distilled, or reverse-osmosis water.
Soil: Use an airy, low-nutrient mix such as long-fiber sphagnum, orchid bark, and perlite. Avoid regular potting soil and heavy fertilizer.
Pet safety: Nepenthes are generally considered non-toxic, but the plant should not be eaten or handled excessively.
